A Friday post for Ben
A couple nights ago while Amelia was in the middle of her 11 hours of straight sleep I woke up to a creepy feeling that someone was watching me. I opened my eyes to see Ben standing in our room staring at us. I asked him if he needed to go to the bathroom, he nodded his head and walked out of the room. I got out of bed to follow him to the bathroom to make sure he was okay and realized he wasn't in there, but instead could hear him unlocking the sliding glass door trying to make his way outside. My guess is he was trying to make his way to his "pee tree". ( Just a few days before he had been showing his friend, Noah how to properly pee on the tree in our backyard.) After a couple more confused attempts he made it to the bathroom and back into bed and was fast asleep. I on the other hand laid wide awake wondering if Ben had anymore plans to sleep walk his way outside while we were sleeping.
Or maybe he was just trying to get into Thriller mode which is what he was doing in this picture above. I can take him anywhere with me and he's happy as long as he can listen to Michael Jackson on my iPod. He looks like a mini-teenager with his headphones and glasses. We're still working on getting him to bring his voice down a few volumes when he talks to us with his headphones on. Everyone in the store can hear him yell "Mom! I just changed the song to Billy's Jeans!".
Ben is desperate to have his own iPod or iTouch. When he begged me for one the other night I did the whole "When I was your age blah, blah, blah....". I can't believe I say stuff like that. I hated when adults used to say that to me. But, regardless my deal with Ben is that if he can save up $250.00 of his own money he can buy his very own. On Sunday night I walked into his room and asked him why he was still awake and he said he was counting all his money to see if he was anywhere close to getting the iPod. He had counted 100 pennies and added that to his $1.50 he had in his wallet and in his mind came up with $200.00. I had to break it to him that he still had quite a bit to save. So, the next day he went to the Boys and Girls Club and spent his $1.50 on a muffin in the coffee shop. I think it'll be a while.....
Bragging Rights:
This is my new segment I like to call Bragging Rights! At the first parent teacher conference we went to with Ben's 1st grade teachers they told us he had behavioral problems because he couldn't stay still and was too social in class and we needed to take him to a doctor to find out what's wrong with him. I guess most 6 year old boys sit quietly for 6 hours at their desk and listen attentively to every word the teacher says. Who knew?
And now, just a few months later (no doctors involved) we have a Student of the Week! We framed this certificate and he found a place to put it on his wall by his bed. We are all very proud!
That's all for now!

Milly's first tooth!
Milly's first tooth popped up this weekend! You can barely see it yet, but it's there. Bring on the steaks and jaw breakers!! Just kidding....
Anyway, here's some super cuteness! She seriously is a happy baby and smiles all the time until that mysterious flash machine comes out and tries to snap a picture of her.
Sierra and I took Ben to the Science Factory last weekend. More on that in another post. I promise. Maybe.
OH EM GEE!! They are adorable! Yes, Ben has a mohawk. No, he never lets us spike it.
Then there's this! :)

And this one too! We're currently waiting for a new pair of glasses. Soccer ball to the face meant bad news for the ones in the pic, but that's another blog entry.

Christmas morning! Ben was so excited to wear his new robe! Such a little man.

This is usually how she puts herself down for a nap. P.S. I pretty much wore those red pajamas for the entire winter break. Don't tell.

Ben is truly the best big brother and very proud of it!
